Jerzy Kornowicz (born 1959)
was a student of Tadeusz Baird, Marian Borkowski and Louis Andriessen. He is the author of many symphonic works (Zorze I-IV, Spiętrzenia), solo works (for piano Warkocz Bereniki, for violin Nieustanne rzeczy wirowanie) and vocal (Zaklęcia). In 2000, his work for chamber orchestra Figury w oplocie was recommended by the UNESCO Composers’ Tribune, and eight years later his symphonic Spiętrzenia was nominated for the OPUS Public Media Award. He is a member of the group called “Kawalerowie błotni” [Mud Cavaliers], performing improvised music.
