SATURDAY 14.05

This year’s festival begins by Elżbieta Chojnacka’s “master stroke”.

In the composition by Jerzy Kornowicz, The Shapes of Elements the “chamber-like” sound of the harpsichord has as a counterpoint the sounds of nature. Operations performed on “natural” sounds are limited to a specific combination in time, therefore they can be easily recognized. A more “civilized” part of the harpsichord is based on two themes (combined and transformed): chord verticals and figurative passages.

The musical part of Un souffle le soulève by Nicola Sani is formed by other elements: baroque (harpsichord), classical (flute) and new technology elements (electronics). In the opinion of the composer, in this work “human and poetical dimensions are combined with experiment, creating as a result new forms of sound.” The title fragment from the poem by Giacinto Scelsi and the word “breath” (souffle) contained in it could suggest that the “human and poetical dimension” is the most important in this work.

At Musica Electronica Nova the FBS musicians will show their special festival face as Eklektik Session, featuring Tom Mays and Wu Wei. The formula for the Eklektik Session project led by the FSB is the improvisation and integration of the music milieu. These efforts are aimed at creating an interactive platform for the collaboration of live and electronic music musicians and producers in Wrocław.

The start of the project stretches back to the exclusive Bass Day UK 2007 affair, when bass playing Bond presented the capabilities of bass guitar analogue modulation in a duo with Michał Muszyński. The unusual showcase received much recognition and interest from the audience, and the unassuming duo went on to form an international project with English vocalist Maria Payne and Swiss producer Roli Mosimann. Their first official work was released in spring 2011.
