
Another virtuoso recital after the concert by Elżbieta Chojnacka within the festival Musica Electronica Nova was held at the Ossolineum Auditorium.
Daniel Kientzy performed, assisted by Cornelia Petroiu who controlled the projection of sounds. More importantly, two works written for Kientzy by the Polish composers Magdalena Długosz and Rafał Augustyn had their first performance during the concert. The saxophone (and even its four basic varieties) was used in all the musical pieces in a total manner. Kientzy not only played them, but also tapped. He also breathed, shouted and spoke to the instrument, so the concert had some of the characteristics of a theatrical mono-drama. Especially in the brilliant Itée by G. Racot. As we remember, Chojnacka’s concert had its biological aspects; Kientzy’s recital had geographical potential: Rafał Augustyn in his commentary to his composition announced the use of the concrete sounds of “the urban landscape of Italy – Venice and Udine.” Additionally, a beautiful panorama of the historical centre of Lviv extended behind the soloist…
