The Ensemble Syntax started in September 2004, has been initiated by 5 musicians and teachers from the Perpignan (South of France) conservatory of music. The ensemble’s goal is to explore today’s musical creation, be it instrumental scores, works for instruments and tape, and scores using live electronics. Playing commissioned works or other works, the ensemble aim is to follow the creational process of each musical piece they play.
Mostly playing works from living composers, curious to discover and to spread the knowledge of the new musical ways opened by today’s creators, the Ensemble Syntax likes to maintain a particular relationship with the schaefferian’s musical revolution inheritance, and with it’s developments in today’s instrumental compositional world.
The Ensemble Syntax wants to contribute to a renewal of aesthetics and sensibilities, betting that it’s the best way to meet new publics.”
