Benjamin de la Fuente (born 1969) studied violin at the Bordeaux Conservatory and became interested in composition, improvisation and electroacoustic music when attending Toulouse University. He continued his composition studies in Paris under the guidance of Gérard Grisey and further developed his improvisational skills with Alain Savouret. At the same time he completed his musicological studies at the Paris VIII University. He has sought inspiration from various sources: rock, spectral and extra-European music (including Indian and African). In his work he has combined the composer’s and improviser’s activities. Apart from instrumental and electroacoustic works he also writes music for short films and the theatre.
