- Artistic Director of the Wrocław Philharmonic Orchestra. Studied conducting, theory and composition at Warsaw’s Music Academy, graduating in 1975, and the same year made his conducting debut at The Grand Theatre – National Opera in Warsaw (Teatr Wielki Opera Narodowa) in a new production of Mozart’s Don Giovanni. In 1976 he was appointed Principal Guest Conductor of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Dusseldorf and a year later won III Prize at the prestigious Karajan Competition in Berlin which resulted in his debuts with the Berlin and New York Philharmonic Orchestras. In 1978 he became Principal Guest Conductor, and two years later Music Director of the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra, presently NOSPR (Wielka Orkiestra Symfoniczna Polskiego Radia i Telewizji, obecnie NOSPR), with whom he toured extensively throughout Europe and in January 2009 was appointed for the second time Music Director of the Katowice orchestra. He has also worked closely and continues his collaboration with the Polish Chamber Opera (Polska Opera Kameralna) and Sinfonia Varsovia in Warsaw. Since 2009 Jacek Kaspszyk has been the Music Director of NOSPR.
